Google has announced a major AI-powered update for Google Photos, rolling out six new features designed to transform how users edit, create, and search their photo libraries. The update deeply integrates Google's powerful image model, Nano Banana, and expands its conversational AI search tool, Ask Photos, to a global audience.

The new tools move Google Photos further beyond simple storage, turning it into an intelligent creative suite that understands natural language.

1. Personalized "Help Me Edit"
This is a significant leap in AI editing. Users can now make complex, person-specific edits with simple text prompts. By tapping "Help me edit," a user can type a command like, "Remove Riley's sunglasses, open my eyes, and make Engel smile." The AI leverages the user's private "Face Groups" data to access other photos of those individuals, generating accurate, personalized fixes like opening their specific eyes or adding their known smile.

2. "Help Me Edit" Comes to iOS
Previously an Android-exclusive, Google's natural language editing is now rolling out to iOS users in the United. States. iPhone users can now use their voice or text to describe edits instead of manually adjusting sliders. The redesigned photo editor, featuring one-tap suggestions and gesture controls, is also coming to iOS.

3. Creative Restyling with Nano Banana
Google's powerful generative AI model, Nano Banana, is now integrated into the Photos editor. Users can completely transform their images by asking the AI to "paint this as a Renaissance portrait," "restyle this image as a mosaic made of colorful tiles," or "turn this photo into a page from a children's storybook."

4. "Create with AI" Templates
To make generative AI more accessible, a new "Create with AI" section is rolling out on Android in the U.S. and India. This provides ready-made, Nano Banana-powered templates for popular requests like "create a professional headshot" or "put me in a high fashion photoshoot." Google also plans to release personalized templates based on a user's hobbies and experiences from their gallery.

5. Ask Photos Expands Globally
Ask Photos, the AI-powered search tool that lets users ask complex, natural-language questions about their photo library (e.g., "Show me photos of my dog playing fetch"), is rolling out to over 100 new countries and 17 new languages, making it accessible to a much wider audience.

6. The New "Ask" Button
Within the Ask Photos experience, a new "Ask" button is rolling out in the U.S. on Android and iOS. While viewing any single image, users can now tap this button to start a conversation about that specific photo. They can ask questions about its content, find related moments, or even describe edits they want to make on the spot without leaving the image viewer.
