Anyscale and Microsoft Collaborate to Deliver AI-Native Computing on Azure

Anyscale, the company founded by the creators of the open-source platform Ray, has announced a major collaboration with Microsoft. The two companies have co-developed a new, fully managed, first-party service on Microsoft Azure designed to deliver high-performance, AI-native computing to enterprises.

This new service, which is powered by Ray, is now available in private preview on Azure. It aims to solve a core problem for businesses: legacy computing systems were not designed for the dynamic, large-scale, and complex demands of modern AI workloads.

Bridging the AI Infrastructure Gap
As companies race to embed AI into their products and customer interactions, they are increasingly hitting the limits of traditional computing architectures. Modern AI, especially complex and multimodal applications, requires a system that can scale dynamically across diverse data, models, and hardware accelerators like GPUs and CPUs.

The new Anyscale-powered service on Azure is built to address this challenge directly. It combines the strengths of three core components:

Ray: The open-source distributed compute framework that allows developers to easily scale AI and Python workloads from a single laptop to a massive cluster.

Anyscale: The commercial platform that provides enterprise-grade developer tooling, cluster management, and performance optimizations (like RayTurbo) on top of Ray.

Microsoft Azure: The trusted, secure, and scalable global cloud infrastructure.

This jointly engineered service turns Ray's powerful AI-native framework into a fully managed offering within Azure. This removes the operational complexity and management burden from enterprises, allowing their developers to focus on building and scaling AI applications rather than managing infrastructure.
