Systematic Trader - Asia: GSR

Feb 1, 2026   |   Location: Singapore   |   Deadline: Not specified

Experience: Mid

Continent: Asia

Salary: SGD 180,000 – SGD 350,000+

This is a core Front Office role at one of the oldest and most respected Market Makers in crypto. Unlike a "Discretionary Trader" who makes decisions based on news or charts, a Systematic Trader builds automated systems (bots) that trade 24/7.

You are effectively a Quant Developer + Researcher. You aren't just analyzing data; you are writing the C++ or Rust code that executes trades in milliseconds. Your goal is to capture the "spread" (the difference between Buy and Sell prices) while managing the immense risk of crypto volatility.

## Key Responsibilities
Market Microstructure Analysis: You aren't just looking at price; you are looking at the Limit Order Book (LOB). You need to understand how orders are queued, how liquidity shifts, and how to execute without moving the market against yourself.

Signal Generation: You will use Python to find statistical patterns (e.g., "When Bitcoin moves X%, Solana usually moves Y% within 500ms").

System Architecture: The JD mentions "designing complex computer system architectures." This implies you are working on the Low-Latency Execution stack. You need to understand network packets, colocation, and minimizing "tick-to-trade" time.

## Strategic Analysis: The "GSR" Approach
Market Making Focus: GSR is primarily a Market Maker. They provide liquidity to exchanges and token projects.

Implication for you: Your strategies will likely be Mean Reverting rather than Momentum-based. You make money when the market is choppy, not just when it goes up.

The "TradFi" Pipeline: The JD explicitly asks for "FX or futures" experience. Crypto market structure (highly fragmented, 24/7) behaves very similarly to FX markets. If you come from a traditional High-Frequency Trading (HFT) firm, you are their ideal candidate.

The Application Form Strategy:

Non-Compete: They ask about this specifically because they know top talent is often "locked up" on Garden Leave for 6-12 months. If you are not currently under a non-compete, highlight thisβ€”it makes you a "cheaper" hire in terms of time.

Comp History: They ask for "Prior Total Comp." Be honest, but remember that Crypto typically pays a "Risk Premium" (often +20-30%) over traditional finance roles.

## Candidate Profile
The "Quant-Dev": You need to be strong in Python (for research/backtesting) AND C++/Rust (for production). If you can't optimize code for memory and speed, you will struggle.

The Scientist: You need a rigorous scientific method. You don't just "try things." You formulate a hypothesis, build a backtest, validate out-of-sample data, and then paper-trade.

Microstructure Nerd: You should know what "Order Flow Imbalance," "Adverse Selection," and "Toxic Flow" mean.

## Critical "Knockout" Criteria
Coding Proficiency: The JD emphasizes "writing code to process large datasets." If you rely on Excel or pure GUI tools, this is not for you.

Electronic Trading Experience: While they accept smart grads, the "Preferred" section heavily leans toward people who have already built trading algos.

Singapore Presence: While they offer relocation, they are rapidly expanding their Asian hub. Being already in Singapore or willing to move immediately is a plus.
