Student Researcher, PhD, Fall 2025: Google

This is a flexible internship/apprenticeship role within Google's Student Researcher Program, designed to foster academic collaboration. PhD students work on exploratory research projects aligned with Google's priorities, contributing to solutions for real-world, large-scale problems. Student Researchers are matched with teams across Google (including Google DeepMind, Google Research, and Google Cloud) based on their skills and interests. This program is non-conversion eligible, meaning it is intended for students who will be returning to their degree program after the internship.

Responsibilities:

Participate in research projects focused on developing solutions for real-world, large-scale problems.

Work collaboratively with Google's research teams on projects that explore innovative research challenges.

Support the creation of breakthrough technologies and contribute to scientific advancement.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a PhD degree program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field.

Experience in one area of computer science (e.g., Natural Language Understanding, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program in the United States and returning to the program after the internship.

Experience as a researcher (internships, full-time, or in a lab setting).

Experience contributing to research communities, such as publishing papers in major conferences or journals.

Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, etc.).
