Sr. Research Scientist, Applied AI Solutions: Amazon Connect

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. Amazon Connect is a highly disruptive cloud-based contact center that enables businesses to deliver engaging, dynamic, and personal customer service experiences, leveraging AI and AWS services like Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon Kinesis. As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, the vision is to provide business applications leveraging Amazon's expertise, used by millions of companies worldwide to manage operations, accelerating customer businesses through intuitive technology solutions that solve enduring challenges. Responsibilities include applying expertise in psychometrics to ensure validity and reliability of measurement instruments; utilizing advanced statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets, open text feedback, and derive actionable insights; designing and conducting experiments to test new measurement methods; exploring emerging technologies to enhance experience measurement; translating research findings into actionable strategies; writing impactful documents for diverse audiences; mentoring other scientists. Requirements include a PhD; 3+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles to business problems; experience communicating qualitative research methods; knowledge of a scripting language (Python, R, etc.); experience contributing to recruiting plans; PhD in econometrics, statistics, or equivalent. Preferred: experience converting research into real-world changes; AI/ML technologies; practical ML application; enterprise IT experience; collaboration with UX/Product/technical partners; publication record in top-tier journals.
