This position is a crucial part of a small Research & Development (R&D) team responsible for exploring emerging technology, user trends, and creating innovative concepts to improve Schwab's customer experience. This team works in sandbox environments to develop proofs-of-concept (PoC) and advises technology/product organizations, effectively turning a "sketch on a napkin" into a functioning concept.
The role involves heavy exposure to cutting-edge Generative AI technology.
Key Responsibilities
R&D & Prototyping: Conduct research on technology and user trends, implement Proofs-of-Concept (PoCs), and present functioning concepts directly to Schwab's executives.
Mentorship & Collaboration: Collaborate with and mentor a small group of talented engineers. Work with other Schwab teams for technology discussions and strategic planning.
Innovation & Foresight: Anticipate technology advancements (especially in AI) that may impact Schwab's products, services, or customer experience.
Knowledge Sharing: Develop industry expertise and contribute to staff development by sharing technical knowledge.
Required Skills & Experience
Generative AI Expertise: Strong technical knowledge around Gen-AI and associated technologies, including:
LLMs (Large Language Models)
PyTorch/Tensorflow
Transformers
Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning
Experience: 6â8 years of computer engineering (or similar work) experience desired, with 2â4 years specifically in AI with an emphasis on Generative AI.
Problem Solving: Exceptional ability and desire to acquire new knowledge and skills, capacity to think outside the box, and enjoyment in finding new ways to solve problems.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills for both small and large audiences, with the ability to clearly articulate direction decisions.
