Charles Schwab is seeking a talented and hands-on Senior Applied AI Engineer for its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Incubation and Enablement Team. This team is at the core of the company's innovation, developing new AI applications to transform client services and drive value. The role is a hands-on development position where you will make significant contributions to development practices, operational standards, and platform evolution. You will be a key developer on the team with deep technical knowledge, a bias for action, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities
Drive the development of innovative AI solutions, with a focus on rapid, iterative software development using Large Language Models (LLMs).

Make significant contributions to the team's development practices, operational standards, and platform evolution.

Work closely with architects, technologists, and business partners to align with technology strategies.

Mentor junior engineers on platform and application solutions and focus on building strong technology practices.

Develop complex products from scratch and manage them in a production environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience:

8+ years of software development experience.

4+ years as a hands-on senior engineer in various organizations.

5+ years of experience building complex products from scratch and running them in production.

3+ years of experience building applications that use AI models to deliver business value.

3+ years of experience building applications and data pipelines that interface with large datasets.

3+ years of experience with containers and cloud-native applications, and operationalizing them with infrastructure as code.

Technical Skills: Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to work across different parts of the tech stack.

Preferred Skills
Experience working with LLMs and shipping LLM-powered applications to production is a significant plus.

Experience with Python, Java, and Angular is preferred.

A focus on quality, with experience writing tests at all levels of the test pyramid.

Strong communication and mentoring skills.

The ability to solve complex problems with ambiguous or incomplete data in highly distributed systems.

A demonstrated mindset of continuous learning and curiosity about new technologies.
