Senior AI Engineer: Capital One

The role is on the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team, which advances science and AI engineering, building and deploying proprietary solutions for high business impact. This position involves partnering with cross-functional teams (engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, product managers) to deliver AI-powered products that transform associate work and customer interactions. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting AI software components (foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, observability); leveraging open-source and SaaS technologies (AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch); inventing LLM optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput in production AI systems; and contributing to the technical vision and roadmap of foundational AI systems. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related plus 3+ years developing AI/ML algorithms/technologies (or Master's plus 1 year); 3+ years programming in Python, Go, Scala, or Java. Preferred: 4+ years deploying scalable/responsible AI on cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure); experience developing/delivering/supporting AI services; developing AI/ML with Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang (LLM Inference, VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory); and optimizing training/inference software for hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
