Principal/Staff GenAI Architect/Engineer: Callidus Legal AI

The company is seeking a Principal/Staff GenAI Architect/Engineer to be a hands-on individual contributor and take on their most challenging generative AI tasks. The role involves being both an architect and an engineer, with a focus on building and optimizing sophisticated AI systems. Callidus is in a period of rapid growth, with ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) growing at over 20% month-over-month. Key Responsibilities
System Design & Optimization: Set up and optimize advanced RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and hybrid RAG systems.

Agent & Model Development: Build sophisticated agents, fine-tune custom models, and customize open-source models through extended pre-training.

Performance & Efficiency: Optimize API calls to achieve maximum results on evaluations and make intelligent trade-offs between speed, scale, and quality.

Model Selection: Quickly decide on the best models to use across hundreds of different API calls.

Mentorship: You'll be an individual contributor but also expected to share knowledge and expertise within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills:

Python is essential, and experience with React/Next.js is a plus.

A proven track record of shipping high-quality products quickly.

Deep experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.

The ability to implement sophisticated LLM techniques, such as hybrid RAG, hallucination guardrails, and agentic workflows.

Experience:

8-15 years of post-college experience, with 2-5 years in the generative AI space.

Experience at a startup or an LLM-focused company is required.

Soft Skills & Work Ethic:

A clear, concise communicator with an ownership mindset.

The ability to work well with ambiguity and a low amount of process.

Tech Stack & Compensation

Compensation:

Base Salary: $220,000 - $300,000.
