ML Scientist: Sesame

Sesame, a company designing a new kind of computer focused on making lifelike voice companions part of our daily lives, is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist. The team brings together founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6, alongside leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple, to shape a future where computers truly come alive.

As a Machine Learning Scientist, you will be a research-oriented individual with deep expertise in NLP, Speech, or Computer Vision. You will be responsible for creating new and novel solutions to achieve the company's ambitious product goals, staying up-to-date on recent academic papers and approaches while applying your creativity and intuition.

Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development of machine learning models across multiple modalities (NLP, Speech, Vision).

Work across the entire ML stack, including model architectures, data curation, model evaluation, training & inference infrastructure, research, and experimentation.

Identify and select promising approaches from academic literature to bet on, and invent new approaches where necessary to achieve unique product goals.

Required Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.

Research Experience: A track record of published papers in NLP, Speech, or Computer Vision involving large-scale deep learning.

Knowledge: Familiarity with the state-of-the-art in AI.

Work Style: Experience working independently in high-ambiguity environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s or PhD is desired.

Experience working directly on products.

Experience in a startup environment.
