Engineering Manager - AI: FalconX

FalconX is a company that provides institutional access to crypto markets, operating at the intersection of traditional finance and technology. This role is for an Engineering Manager to lead the Focal engineering team, which is dedicated to an AI-powered insights platform. You will be responsible for building and scaling the complex systems behind Focal, with a focus on search, large-scale data processing, and Generative AI. The successful candidate will drive technical strategy, mentor the team, and ensure the delivery of a secure, performant, and best-in-class AI solution for institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering team, fostering a culture of high performance and technical excellence.

Technical Strategy: Drive the technical strategy and architecture for the platform's backend systems, focusing on search, data processing, and AI/GenAI model integration.

Software Development Lifecycle: Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.

Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers and other stakeholders to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Best Practices: Champion best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and testing.

Scalability & Reliability: Ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, and security to meet institutional-grade demands.

Hands-on Contribution: Maintain deep, hands-on knowledge of the technology stack and contribute to technical discussions.

Stay Current: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in Generative AI, LLMs, information retrieval, and data engineering.

Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master's or PhD is preferred.

Experience:

8+ years of software engineering experience.

3+ years in a technical leadership or management role.

Proven experience building and leading teams focused on search, information retrieval, or large-scale data systems.

Technical Expertise:

Strong background in AI, ML, and specifically Generative AI (GenAI), including experience with LLMs and their application.

Hands-on experience with relevant technologies such as vector databases, distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).

Other Skills:

Exceptional project management skills.

Excellent communication skills, capable of guiding a technical team and explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
