Director of Machine Learning, ML Datasets Engineering: Runway

Runway is seeking a Director of Machine Learning specializing in Dataset Engineering. This strategic leadership role focuses on data acquisition, management, and optimization for large-scale, multimodal datasets. You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on data analysis to ensure Runway has high-quality data to power its AI models.

Responsibilities
Data Strategy: Develop data strategies supporting product and research objectives; analyze the data ecosystem to find gaps.

Partnerships: Establish and oversee data partnerships to acquire high-quality datasets; work with external partners on new projects.

Technical Leadership: Keep up with advances in dataset engineering/ML; guide the team in data exploration and interpretation.

Optimization: Manage data costs and implement methods to optimize data usage and storage.

Hands-on Analysis: Participate directly in data analysis.

Requirements
Experience: 8+ years of experience in machine learning and dataset engineering, with a focus on large-scale, multimodal datasets.

Leadership: Experience leading data strategies and partnerships at a senior level; ability to guide a team of engineers and analysts.

Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of data cost management, optimization techniques, and current developments in dataset engineering.

Skills: Expertise in data analysis (practical experience with complex datasets), ability to connect technical concepts to business strategy, and strong communication skills.
