OpenAI is hiring a senior data scientist to partner with its rapidly growing Marketing team. This is a unique opportunity to build foundational marketing science from the ground up. You will be instrumental in defining how the company measures success, understanding what drives growth, and building the systems that guide investment decisions.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Embed as a trusted partner within the Go-to-Market (GTM), User Operations, Marketing, and Partnerships organizations to find new ways to improve the business and drive growth.
Manage cross-functional data science projects on topics such as revenue, marketing, pricing, and usage.
Establish a data-driven culture by defining, tracking, and operationalizing key metrics.
Become an expert in OpenAI's data and systems, enabling you to self-serve data and derive insights.
Develop and socialize dashboards and reports to allow teams and the company to answer data questions independently.
Partner with other data scientists across the company to share knowledge and synthesize learnings.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in Data Science roles within dynamic, outcome-driven organizations.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in statistics and causal inference for both experimentation and observational studies.
Proficiency in quantitative programming languages like Python and R.
Expertise in SQL for extracting large datasets and designing ETL workflows.
Experience with business intelligence tools such as Mode, Tableau, and Looker.
Mindset: A strategic and impact-driven mindset, capable of turning complex business problems into actionable frameworks.
Soft Skills:
Strong ability to build relationships and cultivate partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
The ability to craft clear data stories using decks, memos, and dashboards to drive decision-making.
A best-in-class attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
Domain Experience: A proven track record of solving problems within Finance, Marketing, Partnerships, Sales, Support, or other GTM areas.
