The incumbent is a senior computer engineer specializing in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer engineering, data engineering, and emerging digital technologies to the Treasury's enterprise systems. This role is a term appointment located within the Departmental Offices.

Key Duties (GS-15 Level)
The successful candidate will perform critical duties related to federal AI strategy and governance:

Represent the Department in interagency councils, technical standards bodies, and international forums, serving as a Treasury authority on AI and computer engineering.

Establish and promulgate government-wide technical standards, engineering policies, and architectures for the ethical, secure, and trustworthy use of AI and emerging technologies.

Formulate and direct enterprise-wide engineering strategies for AI-enabled systems, computer hardware/software integration, and cloud-native architectures, ensuring compliance with federal mandates and Executive Orders.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
1. Basic Education Requirement
Applicants must meet the requirements for the Engineering series (0854, Computer Engineering), which requires one of the following:

Degree: A bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.

Technical Coursework: A combination of education and experience that includes differential and integral calculus and specific courses in five of seven listed engineering science/physics areas.

Professional Registration: Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).

2. Specialized Experience (By Grade Level)
You must possess one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level equivalent for the grade you are applying to.

GS-15: Experience equivalent to GS-14, including Directing cross-agency projects; Leading enterprise cloud-native modernization efforts; AND Advising high-ranking officials on artificial intelligence, cloud, and data initiatives.

GS-14: Experience equivalent to GS-13, including Collaborating with senior management to ensure alignment of emerging technology adoption with leadership priorities; AND Conducting cybersecurity risk assessments for artificial intelligence -enabled systems.

GS-13: Experience equivalent to GS-12, including Applying cybersecurity practices in artificial intelligence and cloud environments; AND Participating in Agile development teams.

GS-12: Experience equivalent to GS-11, including Assisting in designing, developing, testing, or deploying artificial intelligence models and prototypes.
