The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a senior operations research analyst, providing expertise in initiating, applying, and planning major developmental studies for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center.

Important Notes:

This position is open only to current permanent Department of Defense (DoD) Federal Government employees.

Applicants must submit an updated resume (limited to two pages) and a copy of their most recent SF-50.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.

The position may require travel and is subject to drug testing.

A probationary period may be required.

Responsibilities (Duties):

Employ scientific and analytical techniques to define, quantify, and evaluate the feasibility of assigned projects, studies, or problems.

Review and evaluate study projects, proposals, and reports for adequacy of methodology, including the use of computerized models.

Serve as a consultant and Field Operating Agency (FOA) level technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and agency officials.

Attend meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.

Requirements (Qualifications):

Basic Education Requirement: A degree in operations research; OR at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or science, with at least 3 of those hours in calculus.

Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13 or NH-03). This includes performing complex analytical work, applying scientific techniques to evaluate projects, reviewing studies, advising on methodologies, and acting as a technical expert for senior officials.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Mastery of advanced operations research methods.

Knowledge of expert quantitative techniques to develop and apply models.

Ability to originate new ideas and execute projects within constraints.

Strong written communication skills.

Ability to develop and use appropriate data collection techniques.

Ability to design, build, and use models and simulation techniques.

High degree of judgment, resourcefulness, and originality.
