Salary: $350,000 - $650,000 USD per year (plus equity)

Chai Research, founded by a team of ex-quant traders and researchers from Cambridge, is the fastest-growing AI startup in Palo Alto, serving over 5 trillion tokens per month to 5 million users. They are seeking an Applied AI Researcher to run, optimize, and improve their core AI platform.

This is a high-impact, results-oriented role where you will be directly responsible for tasks leading to a significant (50%) improvement in platform-wide user retention. You will also have the freedom to develop creative new monetization strategies. This position is ideal for a driven individual who is comfortable with high-velocity environments and making decisions that shape the company's future.

Key Responsibilities:
Run, optimize, and improve the core AI platform with the primary goal of increasing 30-day user retention.

Take ownership of tasks and projects that will directly contribute to a 50% improvement in platform retention metrics.

Conceive and implement creative new monetization strategies for the platform.

Identify bottlenecks in the ML development cycle and focus on increasing iteration speed.

Qualifications & Experience:
An established track record of delivering results that have a significant business impact.

A deep understanding of the full machine learning development cycle.

Must be goal-oriented, driven, and comfortable with being given a goal and having the autonomy to achieve it.

Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
