Applied AI Engineer: Augment Code

Augment Code is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to help bring cutting-edge AI capabilities into the hands of developers. With a mission to "augment developers, not replace them," the company is focused on building the best Developer AI with deep contextual awareness of a company’s codebase to bring joy back to software engineering.

This is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of product, AI, and systems. You will be responsible for implementing and integrating LLM-powered features that enhance developer experience and productivity. You will collaborate closely with engineers, researchers, and designers to translate product needs into intuitive and reliable AI-powered experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver reliable, high-quality AI-powered product experiences for developers.

Implement and integrate AI functionality into key product features across the full stack.

Craft, tune, and iterate on prompts for LLMs to improve their reliability and usefulness in real-world developer workflows.

Evaluate and test AI outputs to ensure high performance and accuracy.

Collaborate closely with engineering and research teams to deliver robust, production-grade code.

Required Skills & Experience:
Strong coding skills in one or more of the following: Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Svelte, React, Kotlin, or Java.

Experience with API integrations and service-oriented architectures.

Familiarity with prompt engineering for LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini).

Strong problem-solving instincts and keen attention to detail.

A collaborative mindset and an eagerness to learn.

Bonus Points For:
Experience building product features that directly incorporate LLMs.

An understanding of best practices for AI reliability and safety.

A background in front-end development or UX-oriented implementation.

Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
