Algorithm Developer: Via

Via is a technology company that builds AI-powered software to create modern, efficient, and accessible public transportation systems. Their mission is to change the way the world moves by digitizing and automating entire transportation networks, including fixed-route buses, microtransit, and paratransit. The company was founded in 2012 and aims to make cities greener and improve access to jobs, healthcare, and education.

Responsibilities:

Take full ownership of the large and complex codebase that implements Via’s core algorithm.

Develop and maintain multiple mission-critical services.

Make an immediate impact on Via's daily passengers and clients, for example, by making the booking application respond faster.

Work in close collaboration with DevOps teams, algorithm developers, and researchers.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field.

A minimum of 3 years of hands-on industry experience in backend development (Python).

A solid background in software engineering methodologies, such as git and CI/CD.

Must be a fast learner, a team player, pragmatic, and able to complete tasks in a simple, elegant way.

Advantageous Qualifications:

Experience in DevOps with cloud infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes).

M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field.

Experience in the architecture and maintenance of cloud systems.
