AI Technology Risk Manager

Charles Schwab is a financial services organization that empowers innovative thought and creative problem solving to challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry. The role is within the cybersecurity organization, reporting to the Director of AI Security Risk Management. Responsibilities include identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks associated with AI systems, such as model integrity, adversarial attacks, data poisoning, and privacy concerns; designing and implementing controls to mitigate AI-related risks, including model validation, explainability, and secure data handling; ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations (e.g., FFIEC, NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act); supporting audits and regulatory examinations related to AI and cybersecurity risk; developing key risk indicators (KRIs) and metrics to monitor AI security posture; providing regular reporting to senior leadership and risk committees on AI risk trends and mitigation efforts; staying current with emerging AI threats, technologies, and best practices. Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Risk Management, or related field; 7+ years of experience in technology risk or cybersecurity, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML systems; strong understanding of AI/ML lifecycle, model governance, and security implications; familiarity with financial industry regulations and risk frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, COSO, FFIEC); experience with cloud platforms, data governance, and secure software development practices; excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills. Preferred certifications: CRISC, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent; AI-specific certifications (e.g., Certified AI Risk Management Professional).
