This role is within Schwab’s AI Strategy & Transformation team (AI.x), the central hub for Artificial Intelligence at the company. The team is an integrated product, engineering, strategy, and risk group responsible for setting the enterprise vision for AI and accelerating its delivery.

As an AI Engineer, you will play an important role in designing and delivering innovative GenAI applications that enhance the client experience and create business value. This is a high-profile opportunity to help shape Schwab's future with AI and build solutions that impact millions of clients.

Responsibilities
Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of GenAI applications.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business leaders to ensure solutions align with Schwab’s enterprise strategy.

Participate in technical discussions and help build strong engineering practices.

Work on solving complex technical challenges and help drive iterations from concept to production.

Bring curiosity, creativity, and technical skill to help shape the next generation of AI at Schwab.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

5+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years as a hands-on engineer.

3+ years of experience building complex products from scratch and supporting them in production.

1+ years of experience developing applications that use AI models to deliver business impact.

2+ years of experience with applications or data pipelines that interface with large datasets.

2+ years of experience with containers, cloud-native applications, and infrastructure as code.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to proprietary or open-source LLMs (e.g., Gemini, Claude, OpenAI) and contributing to LLM-powered applications.

Experience evaluating and monitoring LLM-generated outputs for quality and consistency.

Strong communication skills and an interest in mentoring peers.

Experience with Python and front-end development is preferred but not required.

A Master’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus.
