AI Engagement Manager / Senior AI Engagement Manager: C3 AI

Jan 21, 2026   |   Location: Houston, TX (100% On-site + Travel)   |   Deadline: Not specified

Experience: Senior

Continent: North America

Salary: Estimated $160k – $220k Total Comp (Base + Bonus + Equity)

This is not a technical engineering role, nor is it a pure management consulting role—it is a hybrid of both. You are the "Forward Deployed" strategist.

C3 AI sells expensive, complex enterprise software to giant legacy companies (Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Utilities). These clients often don't know how to use AI. Your job is to go in, find a problem (e.g., "We waste $10M a year on broken machines"), design an AI solution to fix it using C3's platform, and manage the team that builds it.

Key Responsibilities
The Translator: You sit between the client’s C-Suite (who care about money) and C3’s engineers (who care about code). You translate "EBITDA" into "Python scripts."

Value Engineering: You must prove the software pays for itself. You aren't just delivering a model; you are delivering an "Economic Impact" report showing exactly how much money the AI saved the client.

Delivery Lead: You manage the timeline and the cross-functional squad (Data Scientists, DevOps, Product Managers) to ensure the project doesn't go off the rails.

Critical "Fine Print" in this JD
5 Days in Office: The application questions explicitly ask: "Are you willing to work onsite 5 days per week?" C3 AI is known for a rigid, high-performance office culture. This is not a remote or hybrid role.

No Sponsorship: They explicitly state they will not sponsor visas (H1B, TN, etc.) now or in the future.

Houston Focus: Given the location and C3's client base (Shell, Baker Hughes, etc.), this role will heavily revolve around Energy, Oil & Gas, and Industrial Manufacturing.

Strategic Analysis: C3 AI's Culture & Reputation
The Culture: Founded by Tom Siebel (Siebel Systems), C3 AI is famous for being intense. It operates more like a high-end consultancy (McKinsey/Bain) than a laid-back Silicon Valley tech firm. Expect long hours, high pressure, and a demand for excellence.

The Product: They sell "Agentic AI" and "Generative AI" now, but their bread and butter is Predictive Maintenance and Supply Chain Optimization.

The Travel: The JD mentions "travel to client sites (up to weekly)." You effectively live the life of a consultant.

Candidate Profile
You are the ideal candidate if:

You are an ex-Consultant (Deloitte, Accenture, MBB) who is tired of making slide decks and wants to build actual products.

You have an MBA or a Technical Master's.

You have "Business Acumen" (you can read a P&L) and "Technical Fluency" (you know the difference between Supervised and Unsupervised learning, even if you don't code it yourself).
