2026 Intern, Gen AI/LLM Research: Samsung Research America

Samsung Research America's Digital Health Team is looking for Ph.D. candidates for a 2026 internship. The interdisciplinary team aims to empower providers, consumers, and clinical researchers by developing GenAI/LLM-based Health AI technologies for Samsung Health.

As an intern, you will work with an agile team to innovate and develop disruptive digital health services and solutions. Your work will support projects leveraging smartphones, wearables, and hearables in the health and wellness domain, benefiting real-world patients, physicians, and caregivers.

Responsibilities
Innovate and develop disruptive digital health services and solutions.

Support projects in the health/wellness domain leveraging smartphones, wearables, and hearables.

Develop GenAI/LLM-based Health AI technologies.

Requirements
Required Skills:

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related area.

Hands-on project experience and tangible past deliverables in the GenAI/LLM application domain.

Solid coding skills and prototyping experience in data science and popular ML frameworks.

Strong knowledge in ML/AI, signal processing, deep learning, and generative AI.

Experience with cloud infra services (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS).

Good communication/presentation skills.

Publications in top-tier academic conferences and journals.

Special Attributes (Preferred):

Experience in time-series data analytics, recommendation engines, or NLP.

Strong mathematics background, especially in statistics.

LLM-based chatbot development.

RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) / Fine-tuning of LLM/SLM models.

Auto-evaluation of LLM in the health domain.

Agentic framework/application development experience.
